Graduate of the Ecole du Louvre, Horya Makhlouf is co-founder of the Jeunes Critiques d’Art collective. She believes in the emancipatory capacity of the arts in society and likes to cross-reference in her criticisms different approaches, borrowed from art history or the social sciences. Interested in identity issues and the role of institutions in promoting contemporary practices, she has conducted researches on the exhibition Contemporary Arab Representations, directed by Catherine David from 2001 to 2007, and on the artist Akram Zaatari.
