Julia Ben Abdallah

Julia Ben Abdallah is an art historian and co-founded the collective for art critic POKUS - Poetische Kunstkritik Berlin together with Constance Jame and Janine Muckermann in March 2019. She aspires to an accessible and independent art critic. She writes about exhibitions and artistic works in Berlin that she finds particularly inspiring, without restricting herself to a particular genre or discipline. As an amateur actress, she also enjoys writing about theatre productions and dance performances she sees in Berlin.

Janine Muckermann

Janine Muckermann is a visual artist and cultural theorist. She co-founded POKUS in early 2019. In her writings she mainly focuses on the connection between text/dance/movements and on performative processes, referring to intersectional questions of power, knowledge, accessibility, and feminist spatial practices.

Constance Jame

Author

Art historian and museologist, Constance Jame co-founded the collective POKUS - Poetische Kunstkritik Berlin to defend an independent and literary art critic. In her writings, she questions the curating of artworks and the figure of the artist through art history theory, but also post-colonial and feminist theories.

Lena Schubert

Author

Lena Schubert is a writer exploring art in the contexts of housing and the city, histories of knowledge, and psychology. Her post-critical essays derive from critical theory rather than traditional art critique. She partly takes detours into fiction.

Jette Büchsenschütz

Author

Jette Büchsenschütz writes and researches mainly about dance and performance – with a strong interest in cultural politics, in particular the intersection of feminist theory and labour. She has a background in Chinese as well as in Dance Studies.

Johann Otten

Author

Johann Otten is curious about the internet, technology, and the future beyond fossils. He mostly thinks about hope, futility, and the meeting of abstract matter with banality. He lives and works in Zurich and Berlin, and writes podcasts and radio plays. In addition to that, he has collected images for more than a decade and works as a freelance photographer–mostly in analogue medium format.
